Gautam Gambhir spoke about the difference between being a Leader and a Captain and the Importance of Self-Belief in ShareChat’s CricChat audio chatroom
Gautam Gambhir, former Indian cricketer, took to ShareChat CricChat audio chatroom to connect with his fans. In a candid conversation, the cricket icon spoke about his cricketing journey, shared fun anecdotes, life experiences and key highlights of his career with his fans.
His session amassed over 228,694 ShareChat users who poured their love for their favourite sportsman with over 12,021 comments. Among many other interesting anecdotes, Gambhir spoke about how his cricket journey began, his lifelong passion of joining the army that did not get fulfilled and how he missed a major school exam to play a Ranjhi trophy match. He also spoke about the centuries he scored, being a top run scorer in 2007 World Cup and also gave insights about how to become a successful leader. Gambhir revealed that people always misunderstood him as an arrogant person because of his quiet demeanour but that did not affect his personal life.
Sharing his philosophy as a cricketer, he said, “Self-belief is must for every cricketer. Until and unless, a cricketer doesn’t believe in himself in turning around a tough situation, he is only going on the ground to fill in the numbers.” According to him a good captain is someone who is also a good leader as good captaincy just lasts 2-3 hours in a day but good leadership lasts a lifetime. In an inspiring moment, he spoke about the importance of motivating and leading people to deliver their best – both on and off the field. Apart from his cricketing journey, he also spoke about his experience of being a politician and a public servant and his achievements in the political space.
