Helping Delhi-NCR sellers on the Meesho platform, better understand the SME listing ecosystem through Project Shikhar
BSE, Asia's oldest stock exchange, in partnership with Meesho, India's largest e-commerce platform by Annual Transacting Users and Placed Orders, brought Project Shikhar to New Delhi through a two-day awareness programme aimed at helping Meesho sellers understand the opportunities available through the BSE SME platform.
The sessions covered listing eligibility, financial preparedness, governance, compliance, disclosures and the role of intermediaries in the listing process.
Launched in June 2026, Project Shikhar is a first-of-its-kind program launched by BSE and Meesho to enable eligible micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to explore capital markets for growth capital. The Delhi programme marked the first on-ground engagement under Project Shikhar since its launch.
BSE representatives had an interactive session with Meesho vendors and briefed about the SME listing framework and the key requirements for accessing public markets. Participants also interacted with merchant bankers, including Smart Horizon Capital Advisors Private Limited and Corporate Makers Capital Limited.
Radha Kirthivasan, Head – Issuer Relations and Corporate Sales, BSE, said: “India's MSMEs are the backbone of innovation, entrepreneurship and employment generation. At BSE, we believe that access to public capital markets can play a transformative role in helping promising enterprises scale sustainably and build long-term value. Through Project Shikhar, in partnership with Meesho, we are bringing capital market awareness closer to a large and vibrant community of digital entrepreneurs who are shaping India's new economy.
The objective is not only to create awareness about SME IPOs, but also to help businesses understand the importance of financial discipline, governance, transparency and compliance that underpin successful listed companies. As Asia's oldest stock exchange and a pioneering platform for SME listings, BSE remains committed to enabling emerging enterprises across India to access growth capital, institutionalize their operations and participate meaningfully in the nation's economic growth story.”
Lopamudra Rao, Head of Corporate Affairs, Meesho, said: “Digital commerce has enabled lakhs of Indian businesses to reach customers across India and build at scale. As these businesses mature, their aspirations and requirements also evolve. Through Project Shikhar, we are connecting entrepreneurs in our seller ecosystem with BSE and the wider capital-markets ecosystem, giving them access to the right information and expertise to understand what being listing-ready entails. The objective is to help sellers make informed decisions about the opportunities available to them as they build stronger and more institutionally ready businesses.”
The programme also featured insights from SMEs that have been successfully listed on the BSE SME platform, offering participants a first-hand perspective on the listing journey. Sharing their experiences, Mr. Avinash Kumar Singh, Promoter and Managing Director, ENS Enterprise Ltd, said: “For entrepreneurs, understanding the public markets is valuable well before a decision to list is made. The journey encourages businesses to think deeply about financial discipline, governance, transparency and long-term growth. Access to the right information and expertise early in that journey can help founders assess whether and when the public markets are right for their business.”
Echoing the sentiment, Mr. Ritesh Sharma, Promoter and Managing Director, Tipco Engineering Ltd, said: “Building a successful business is not just about achieving scale; it is about creating a sustainable institution. Understanding how public markets operate encourages entrepreneurs to adopt best practices in governance, transparency, and financial management from an early stage. This knowledge empowers founders to prepare for future growth opportunities and make well-informed decisions about their business aspirations.”
